Homeless, Small Dogs Transferred from LA to Greenhill in Search of New Homes

Late Saturday evening, 19 small-breed dogs were transferred from shelters in the Los Angeles area to Greenhill by the Best Friends LA Program in order to find the dogs new, loving homes. Best Friends works with city and county shelters, humane groups, and municipal agencies to reduce the number of homeless animals in Los Angeles. One way they work to fulfill this mission is through their Transport Program, which takes animals (commonly small-breed dogs) from over-flowing LA-area shelters and transfers them to areas where they have a better chance of finding a new, loving home.

The dogs are currently receiving behavioral and health evaluations by Greenhill staff members before being made available for adoption.

Some dogs will be available for adoption as early as Tuesday, April 14th. Adoption prices will start at $150.

Remember, you can view photos and descriptions of all Greenhill's adoptable animals on our 'Adopt a Pet' page.

UPDATE: Thanks to an amazing outpouring of community support, many of the LA dogs found their new, loving homes this morning! Keep checking Greenhill's 'Adopt a Pet' page to view which dogs are still available for adoption. If you are interested in being contacted about future small dog transfers from LA to Greenhill, please send your name and email address to information@green-hill.org. And remember, new dogs (small and large) are brought to Greenhill everyday looking for their new homes and would love to be part of your family!
