Everyone has heard of the ‘dog days of summer’ but Greenhill is hoping as the temperatures rise so will cat adoptions, thanks to special promotion prices that begin in July.
Feline Fridays return on July 3rd and will continue every Friday through September. This is the second year that Greenhill is cutting adoption fees on cats to just $35 and kittens to $50 every Friday throughout the summer. In addition, all cat or kittens adopted on any other day of the week that the shelter is open will go home for just $65!
All adoption fees for cats or kittens include a health and behavior screening, FVRCPC vaccination, FELV/FIV test, microchip, spay/neuter surgery, private vet exam, deworming, deflea, nail trim and ear cleaning, grooming, collar/tag and a free cardboard carrier.

For most of us the perfect 4th of July includes some good BBQ, fireworks, sunshine and relaxation. But the activities that we find fun and entertaining may be harmful to the furry companions joining us for the festivities. Below are the safety tips to keep in mind to ensure a safe and happy holiday for all the pets celebrating this 4th of July.

Please note: Greenhill Humane Society will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2009. The shelter will reopen on Sunday, July 5th at 11am.
Greenhill’s first-ever Doggy Dive was a great success with 90 dogs testing the waters at Sheldon Pool! It was a fun day for people and their pets alike as the dogs took over the pool with doggy paddles, games of fetch with tennis balls and even some plunges off the diving board. Donations from the event totaled almost $500 to directly benefit Greenhill’s efforts to help homeless animals. Thank you to the Northwest X-Treme Challenge Air Dogs, Oh My Dog and everyone who participated for a great day of dog-gone fun!
Greenhill would like to say a special thank City of Eugene Parks and Recreation Sheldon Pool for donating the use of their facilities.

The 2009 Bark in the Park, held on May 17th, boasted the largest turn-out in the event's 16 year history with 600 people and their pets taking part in the 5K run and 2K walk. The race, which was held in Alton Baker Park, raised almost $30,000 to directly benefit Greenhill's efforts to help homeless animals.
None of this success would have been possible without the amazing support, hard work and donations of all the volunteers, individuals and organizations that made up the 2009 Bark in the Park! THANK YOU for continuing to make the work Greenhill Humane Society does possible.
