Name Your Adoption Price Promotion for Adult Cats due to large influx of kittens

Love is Priceless for a new adult cat companion during adoption promotion

LANE COUNTY, OREGON – (July 12, 2024) – “Kitten Season 2024” is in full swing at Greenhill Humane Society and the adult cats are wishing that things were a little quieter. So far in 2024, Greenhill has taken in over 592 kittens, a 6% increase over last year. To help the adults move into new homes sooner, the shelter is running a “Love is Priceless” adoption promotion.

During the “Love is Priceless” adoption promotion, adopters of the selected adult cats will be able to name their price for the perfect match. Greenhill is open every day with adoption meet and greets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To see all the cats part of this promotion, visit Greenhill’s cat adoption page (https://www.green-hill.org/adopt_cat).

“During kitten season, adult cats find it hard to compete with the fluffy, adorableness of kittens and often get overlooked by potential adopters,” said Sarah Bouzad, Greenhill’s Community Engagement & Events Manager. “We are hoping this promotion will highlight the many benefits of adopting an adult cat. Plus, you’ll be giving them a quieter, relaxing home away from the rowdy babies, ensuring we have needed room for the increase in vulnerable animals we are seeing.”

Greenhill Humane Society has a variety of cats ranging in age, size, and color. All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption.

These cats are all looking for a special home and part of the “Love is Priceless” promotion (photos attached):

-Big Lou: 8-year-old handsome boy who loves to be brushed! He is reserved when meeting new people, but with some patience, he quickly blossoms into a loving companion.

-Billie: A handsome 1-year-old Siamese mix who is extremely smart and active. He is looking for a family who will keep him entertained physically and mentally. After a short time, playing with his wand toy or eating his breakfast in a puzzle toy, he takes a hard cat nap on his cat tree. He loves his people, toys, and sunbathing!

-Luna: 13-year-old sweetie, affectionate senior looking for her family to spoil her. She takes time to warm up but enjoys warm blankets and a variety of toys.

-Missy: 6-year-old sweet, talkative, and playful girl who loves to show off her vibrating tail when she’s excited! She is by far a culinary professional with her exceptional biscuit-making abilities.

-Navi: 2-year-old snuggle bug! He is a social butterfly who will charm his new family with his outgoing personality. After receiving a few pets, he will often give you sweet little kisses on the hand.

-Sylvester and Silas: These two brothers are best friends and must be adopted together. They are affectionate and friendly to all they meet! This duo is very playful and loves to show off their purrs.

There are many benefits to adopting adult cats. Most adult cats are lower maintenance, well mannered, already litter box trained, and have an established personality. Adopters help a harder-to-adopt cat find comfort, creating more space for other cats needing safe shelter and care with Greenhill, and take home a loving companion.

In addition to the “Love is Priceless” promotion, Greenhill is encouraging potential volunteers, foster families, and supporters to participate in their annual “Kitten Shower”. Due to the large influx of kittens that enter the shelter this time of year, Greenhill is looking for additional volunteers, foster homes, and donations of specific items to help care for neo-natal kittens.
