Eugene, OR – Thursday, June 21st from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Greenhill Humane Society will hold their official groundbreaking on a $5.6 million expansion of the animal shelter located on Green Hill Road.
The event is open to the public. Attendance is expected to be around 400 people. A presentation at 5:30 will feature Greenhill’s Executive Director, Cary Lieberman, who will speak about the project which has been over ten years in the making.
“We are so excited to be moving forward with this project,” says Lieberman. “Upon completion, our community will have a state-of-the-art animal care facility that we can all be proud of.”
The first phase of the project will last over 13 months and include replacing Greenhill’s 60 year-old dog kennel building with a new 11,645 square foot, state-of-the-art dog housing and care building. Improvements will also be made to Greenhill’s cat housing as well as an expansion of parking and upgrades to the site.
The shelter will remain open to the public during construction.
To date, Greenhill Humane Society has raised $2.2 million towards their $5.6 million goal. The shelter will continue to fundraise during construction.
