Greenhill Raises the Ruff on New Dog Housing Facility

Eugene, OR – It’s been just four months since Greenhill Humane Society first broke ground on their new 11, 645 square foot, state-of- the-art dog housing and care facility and this Monday, October 22, McKenzie Commercial will place the roof on the first of two new buildings located on the Green Hill road campus.  The roof has been built on the ground and will be placed by crane.

The first phase of the building project is anticipated to conclude in the spring of 2019.  Fundraising for the second phase, including the expansion of the cat care facility, is currently underway.  To date, Greenhill has raised $2.5 million with a goal of raising roughly $5.6 million.

“We’re thrilled that the construction project is moving forward and that we’re closer then ever to occupying a building that reflects our high level of care and compassion,” says Sasha Elliott, Greenhill’s Director of Operations.  “Our life-saving rate is among the best in the country and it’s time that our facility supports the level of care we provide.”

Greenhill Humane Society operates the largest animal shelters in the Eugene/Springfield area and cares for animals from all over Lane County. This building project will enable Greenhill to merge their two facilities into one convenient campus improving access to Greenhill’s programs and services for people in the local community.  The shelter will continue operations and fundraising during construction.
